Giving back to those who give the most
Meyer Sprint for Charities is a program that allows Meyer and its employees to give back to our communities. Each Meyer employee had the ability to submit a charity of his or her choice for the program. Each charity elected receives a donation of $500 presented at their Meyer hosted race night. If the Meyer Flyer (race car) wins on a charity’s race night, that charity will receive another $500 at the end of the night for a total of $1,000! Meyer is also accepting individual donations to be dispersed evenly to the charities at the end of the race season.
The 2016 Meyer Wisconsin Wingless Sprint Series opened up at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI on May 7th with a win for Meyer Racing. With a valiant display of impeccable driving and the undeniable skill of the Meyer Racing crew setting up the Meyer Flyer, Wm. W. Meyer & Sons, Inc. was able to donate $1,000 to Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry! The Algonquin Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry officially opened its doors in January of 2000. They operate as a not-for-profit corporation under IRS code, section 501 c(3). In June 2000, Lake in the Hills won statewide recognition for its local food pantry. The village earned first place in the Governor’s Home Town Awards, which recognize community volunteerism. Another night, another Meyer Racing win for a wonderful charity! On May 28th, Meyer Racing put the metal to the pedal in a thrilling performance of skilled driving. Coming off of a crash the week before, the Meyer Racing team worked diligently through the week in preparation for Meyer’s Sprint for Charities night benefiting Assistance in Healthcare. With a heroic display of perseverance and determination, Todd Lehr and Meyer Racing were able to earn $1,000 for Assistance in Healthcare. Assistance in Healthcare provideds financial support to patients undergoing active cancer treatment and has been doing so for over thirty years. We doubled down as Meyer Racing ran both cars on June 11th for the Sprint for Charities night benefiting Little Angels. The idea was to only run both cars during Hot Laps [to see who has the fastest lap] to make sure both cars were running at the same level. Having crashed a couple weeks prior, it was important to check both cars. What was unexpected was having both cars perform so well, we finished top in Hot Laps, Qualifying and took 1st and 2nd in the feature race earning Little Angels $1,000. We could not resist celebrating such a win without donating an extra $500 for 1st and 2nd place finish. Little Angels provides a loving residence for children and young adults with severe disabilities and complex medical needs. It is a state-of-the-art facility offering round-the-clock skilled nursing, therapeutic and habilitation services in a warm, caring environment. A night filled with excitement and incredible racing helped us celebrate a Meyer Racing victory on June 25th. Overcoming the ever changing track conditions and replacing the drive gears with little time before the feature race, the Meyer Racing team stunned their competitors with a great win after starting in 6th and slipping by to take 1st. The hard work the team put in for the solid win allowed us to donate $1,000 to a great charity, the Hollis Adams Foundation. The Hollis Adams Foundation (HAF) is a privately funded nonprofit that has served adults with developmental disabilities for nearly 50 years. They offer social, recreational, and community outreach opportunities through a wide variety of events and activities.
